Elliptical Training is a great option as an activity for exercise. It has lots of benefits and very little, if any negative. This a very uncommon for an exercise.
What is Elliptical Training
Elliptical training is exercise performed on a device called an elliptical trainer. They are called this because their pedals move in an elliptical motion rather than up and down or forward and back. The elliptical motion is designed to mimic the natural motion of the body when jogging.
Advantages of Elliptical Training
Elliptical training has the advantage of being weight-bearing, yet non-impact. Weight-bearing means that it you are supporting your own body weight while performing the activity. This is an advantage because when you are supporting your own weight, you are using more muscle as compared to exercises that are seated while performing them. Using more muscle leads to increased cardiovascular work, more calories being burned, more energy consumed, increased metabolism, etc. Other advantages are that you don’t have the same impact on your joints that you do with other weight-bearing activities like walking, jogging, or running.

Cons
Honestly, unless you simply don’t prefer the motion of an elliptical trainer, there are no disadvantages of this type of exercise. That’s why it’s one of the most popular types of exercise machines in health clubs today.
Until recently, I would have one objection to an elliptical trainer. And, that’s the the fact that it can’t be done outdoors. Well, now that has changed. There is now a device called the Elliptigo. It is basically an elliptical trainer that moves similar to a bicycle. I can’t wait to try one. You’ve got to see one to believe it.
